Record No. T5 Technical Jack Plane

NOTE: The T5 SS Technical Jack Plane was exactly the same as the T5 except that it had the letters “SS” cast into the lever cap above the screw hole. The box label also had “SS” after the model number. The plane was sold at the same price as the T5.
The sturdily built T5-SS was specially designed to meet the requirements of schools and technical colleges where good tools were essential and conditions arduous.
The sole casting was designed for strength without undue weight, and was reinforced by ribbing across the wings from an enlarged forward web. The base and sides are machine-ground for easy and accurate work.
The operation of shooting is considerably simplified by the provision of an extra handle which can be attached to either side of the plane.
Extended wings give a wide and steady bearing thus minimising the tendency of a young operator to cant the plane over.
The instructor’s time spent in maintenance and the time required for grinding, sharpening and setting is but a fraction of that required on a wood jack plane.
