Record No. 041 Improved Shoulder Rabbet Plane

Record No 041 Improved Shoulder Rabbet Plane
Record No. 041 Improved Shoulder Rabbet Plane
as illustrated in Catalogue No. 15, February 1938

This plane was for very fine and accurate work. The base and sides are accurately machined and ground. It lies quite flat on either side, and can be used both right and left hand.

Unlike its bigger cousins, the 072, 073 & 074 Improved Shoulder Rabbet Planes, there was no screw adjustment to the mouth, however it did feature the screw adjustment on the cutter for regulating the depth of cut, and was fitted with a tungsten steel cutter.

Packed in a varnished wood box with sliding lid.

Originally a pattern designed and manufactured by Edward Preston & Sons and then introduced into the Record plane lineup. See “Edward Preston & Sons planes which made it into the Record lineup” for more information.

First introduced in a small publicity catalogue issued between the January 1934 Price List and Catalogue No. 14 of November 1935.
